More SELMA, Alabama photos. At left are some of the massive and magnificent moss-laden trees in the old cemetery. The middle is a mural and memorial plaque, in a vacant lot where the Silver Moon Cafe once stood. Out of it in March 1965 came a group of (likely boozed up) thugs who bashed James Reeb, a Unitarian from Boston come to show support for the voting rights movement, over the head with a metal pipe. He died a day or so later. And the third is a cell in the Selma City Jail, likely the one in which I spent a night with Dr. King in February, 1965. A hat-tip to Police chief Riley for letting me visit it.
