More chainsaw operators are needed at typhoon Haiyan-struck areas - TopicsExpress

More chainsaw operators are needed at typhoon Haiyan-struck areas to help salvage and process coconut wood. The generally high humidity in the Philippines is a real threat - the more moisture in the air, the quicker fallen trees rot. The downed coconut stems, or tree trunks, are also at risk from pest infestation, most likely beetles. And some good news: 1. Distributor of STIHL in the Philippines offers FREE training for chainsaw operators at Leyte, Cebu and Bohol. Register and inquire for dates. 2. Chainsaw operators have seen their wages nearly double. 3. In areas where trees were felled by Typhoon Haiyan, and the 2012 Typhoon Bopha in Mindanao, the PCA is waiving the $22 chainsaw registration fee and the cutting fee of $2.20 per tree.
