More city flats and Fazakerley Lidl backlash at town hall today Around 100 objections have been submitted over plans for a new low cost supermarket in Liverpool. City council planners are due to decide on proposals by Lidl for a new store on Longmoor Lane at the site of the Grey Chaser pub in Fazakerley. The council says it had received 96 proforma letters plus other letters and emails objecting to the scheme, with 22 letters of support. Concerns include impact on traffic for an already busy road as well as the effect on existing shops nearby. The proposal has been recommended for approval by planning officers at the council, although local councillors have requested the planning committee visit the site before making a decision. Also on the agenda are plans for 37 new apartments on land close to Liverpool One on Paradise Street, including a two storey roof top extension to the former Gordon Smith Institute for Seaman known as Chancery House and a six storey new build, and “mezzanine retail floors with deli/café/restaurant uses”. During the meeting at Liverpool town hall tomorrow planners will also be asked to look at proposals for 360 apartments and studio apartments at Swainbanks historic warehouse at Fox Street in Everton.
