More fun with Cryptoheros! This pair of C. sajica are busy with their fry even though they seem to have no other tankmates. I like this pair because they strike a balance between color and markings. In English, they are called T-bar cichlids because of the sideways T you can see on the female here. She also has yellow fins. The male has red fins and shows much more blue. Many males have electric blue eyes. The colors and markings are variable. Some are more brownish while others are more blueish, but I dont think theyve been selectively bred for color. Even the same fish will have different colors depending on water conditions, excitement or aggression, and breeding time. ¶ Like all the Cryptoheros, C sajica are fairly small--males to 5 inches, females an inch or so smaller. They are generally more peaceful than most of the Central American cichlids, but remember that peaceful is a relative term; they can take care of themselves, and they sometimes take a serious dislike to some of their tankmates with deadly consequences.
