More information on dates, places and times for our community outreach clinics: Are you protected? Whooping cough (pertussis) is a disease that effects many of our newborn babies. 90% of reported pertussis deaths are among babies under 4 months of age. Pertussis is a contagious disease that creates sticky, thick mucus in the airways that make it hard to breathe, eat and drink .Infants with the disease can have trouble breathing and turn blue. SYMPTOMS: *sneezing *runny nose *low-grade fever *mild, occasional cough WHO NEEDS TO BE VACCINATED? Mothers and fathers , Grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles and babysitters of infants Anyone who has not had a tetanus vaccine in the last 5 years. *If you are a kind social person who will take the time in a store to stop and admire an old school -mate’s grandchild then—YOU need the Tdap vaccine!!* Cape Girardeau Public Health Center will be giving the vaccine free of charge to ages 10 and up at the following locations: July 10th Arena Building in Cape Girardeau 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m,.
