More introspection: woke up around 4 am thinking about Twin - TopicsExpress

More introspection: woke up around 4 am thinking about Twin Points. Some of you know what that is or was. Lots of sunny days swimming and having fun there. On 3 or 4 occasions I just happened as a teenager to be in the right place at the right time to save people who were drowning. The one I remember most was a young girl around 6 to 8 yrs. I was 16. I was swimming back to shore from the dock with the swing and was pretty tired so made a swing by the smaller dock..if you were ever there it was a lot closer to shore. When I got there, there were a couple of women standing on it talking. I clung to the dock for a moment when I noticed this little girl going under the water... Saying help. The women were looking right at her and did nothing soo I swam over to her as she went under the water. For those who remember that water is pretty murky so I grabbed her and pulled her up. She was fighting and gasping for air..I tried to get behind her and grab her hair to pull her to shore but before I could do that she started climbing me like a tree. And so all I could do was go under the water and swim toward shore. Luckily the life guard finally saw what was going on and about the time I got to shallow water he came and drug her out of the water. I stumbled out gasping for air thanking God for saving us. The women by that time had jumped off the pier and ran by me screaming ..one of those was that little girls mom. Just unbelievable to me to this day. But what that taught me is this: when you try to rescue a drowning person you better be able to get behind them and grab their hair and drag them out...no argument, or you are going to drown too. They may loose a few hairs and have a sore head, but they will live to see another day..and so will you. If you approach them from the front you are both more than likely going under. No shouting match..just action. Maybe they will appreciate what you just did and maybe not. My suggestion is do the right thing because it is the right thing to do and let God sort it out. Yes, I know, what I get awakened at 4 AM..thinking. lol.
