More new music! Today Im giving you something from Gusters - TopicsExpress

More new music! Today Im giving you something from Gusters latest album, Evermotion. It was finally released today, although the band were very generous in providing tracks from the album for the last few months. Evermotion is a slight departure from Gusters other albums, and it crosses over more into the current indie scene. It was produced by Richard Swift (remember him from the other day?), and that seems to be his wheelhouse these days. The single, Simple Machine, immediately struck me as having a different sound for the band. For a longtime fan like me, it was slightly jarring to hear at first. I dont normally equate Guster with synthesizers, but artists have to evolve and grow. While the song may have seemed odd to me at first, it quickly grew on me. (I like it a lot now.) I was a little unsure of how this song might sound in concert, but the band provided a slightly different take on the song in the video below. I might prefer the more acoustic sounding version, but Im fine with what ended up on the album as well. (Heres the album version for comparison: https://youtube/watch?v=2GVni_DlywI) Guster is currently on tour (dates here: guster/tour) and theyre nice enough to give away download copies of the album with tickets to their shows. Kishi Bashi is opening for them too, so that might be a selling point for a few of you too. With only a couple of listens of the whole album under my belt, Ive gotta say that Im quite happy with the results. I was apprehensive going in, but Ive been pleasantly surprised. - Mr. Big #Guster #SimpleMachine #Evermotion #newmusic
