More than 272,500 Michiganders selected plans on the health insurance marketplace during its first open enrollment period. Thats about 70 percent higher than earlier projections, but doesnt reflect how many people actually completed the process by paying their premiums. Nationally, more than 8 million Americans signed up for coverage through the marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
