More than 65 inmates at the California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi have earned GEDs and certificates! CDCRs Office of Correctional Education offers GED and vocational programs that allow inmates to develop educational and job skills that will help them find employment when they return to their communities. We do our best to work on job-building skills, Principal Patricia Medved said told the Tehachapi News. We dont want them to end up back here (in prison). Several graduating inmates shared how valuable the program is, including one man who said while he had his doubts at first, eventually he realized that receiving a vocational certificate will help him have a better future.
