More than nine years ago, when I was still running FBRN, I placed a sickly little 2 year old black masked fawn Frenchie girl who had survived two bouts of pancreatitis and lost a third of her intestine before her owners turned her over to rescue. After a third bout of pancreatitis, I took over her foster care, worked with Robin L Cannizzaro Dvm (my good friend and favorite homeopathic vet!) to restore her health, and placed her with a marvelous couple in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her name was Paris, Dusty to her besotted new owners. Dusty died this past October, and her passing knocked both owners out flat with grief. This past Saturday, they got a new baby to love: a little seven year old brindle breeder-retiree who was sick and tired of being just one face in the crowd. Now that lucky little Frenchie is the It Girl, with two people to love her unconditionally and no furry siblings to snatch any of that love away from her. Everybodys blissful. Please, dont ask how old your prospective new best friend is, dont ask if she is fawn, or pied, or brindle, dont ask where she came from or why shes looking, just ask if she needs you and you need her. Thats what makes it work, thats all, nothing else, nothing more...
