More than several times, alternative proposals have been sent to the State governor, I wont start documenting them one by one, but one is sourcing alternative fuel in Oyo State, even if its just to cater for the transportation fleet of the government; that will go a long way in reducing the N49billion administration cost of a State that is only generating N14billion. In fact, its a shame that Ekiti State is generating as much in IGR as Oyo State. The Okada Transport alternative policy was made available to the governor, but a government that is only interested in fleecing the masses of their hard earned money only collected levies as proposed in the policy but failed to purchase insurance for the riders (and the passengers inclusive). If the policy had been followed as laid down, the recent emission levy would not have been necessary because the structure, as laid would have opened up the opportunity of Okada lease companies that would work alongside the insurance companies to offer these riders newer, versatile and up-to-date versions of Okada; that business opportunity will open up employment......mind you, the government hasnt spent a kobo because the funds for the insurance is form the levy collected from the riders. Again, the Okada was meant to be for a limited period, within which these riders are identified, documented and trained for the next public transport initiative; I wont tell you yet what transport initiative we are thinking about. BUT THE BOTTOMLINE HERE WAS THAT THE POLICY WAS MESSED UP! Seyi Odetola led the discuss on JET LIFESTYLE TAX, a tax geared at those who have private jets to contribute, by way of tax, to the development of the community. The FG took it, made mention of it briefly, and nothing has been heard about it again! I was shown a proposal submitted to the Oyo State governor on affordable housing for the masses. A government-led, PPP Social Housing will drive the rates of rent down without fighting any landlord! But guess what? It was refused on the excuse that the State has no fund, yet the State had funds for 5-Star hotel that is nothing other than an avenue to siphon public fund. I mentioned it to someone that if I have my way, that 5-Star Hotel should be turned to a Social Housing project and located away from the Mokola area where there is traffic issue....hmmm...maybe, Soka area. Alternative policy proposal was made for the 320 tractors that was distributed to 20 LGs at 16 nos each, even the LG that has no arable land. Has anything been done to correct this anomaly? NO! Re:Mokola Roundabout; while we insisted that the flyover was un-necessary and pure waste of the peoples money during its initial stage, at its completion and after the macabre dance during the opening ceremony, an alternative proposal on simple traffic management that would have resolved the traffic issue, and at the same time creating employment opportunities was advanced, but was it given any consideration if it could still be paired with the flyover? NO. I have the privileged information at the discuss stage of the recently announced Security Camera project for the FCT, dont ask me how I knew. Yet the FGs spokesperson that went out to relay the project to the public has shown that he hasnt got a full understanding of the proposal, and thats how they end up wasting public money and putting the people at the offensive for any State projects involving the people making contributions and reaping benefits. Yet, we have people that are happy with us criticising the FG and staying off the State governments. Hmmmmnnnnn........
