More unhappy news about my Allie. She has hardly moved from her beloved blue bed today and shows no interest whatsoever in food of any kind. Ive offered cottage cheese, her milk-bone treats and canned pumpkin mixed with some yogurt. She doesnt even sniff. I have three options. The first is to take her back to the animal hospital and let Dr. Susan run tests, then try and treat her (an improbable outcome, and she would still be blind and deaf). Besides that, she would spend what will likely be her last days in a strange place and frightened. The second would be to wait and let nature take its course, creating the possibility of her dying over the weekend when the clinic is closed and I would have no way to take her there for cremation. The third, and the course that I have chosen, is to euthanize her. The doctor will do it tomorrow here at home, as she lies on her blue bed. I will be rubbing her ears and telling her what a good dog she has been and that I want her to find peace. Then the doctor will take her on one last car trip, back to the clinic, but this time she wont be scared. I know that this posting is sad, but it helps me to write about it. I hope you dont mind. Please think of us tomorrow during the middle of the day.
