Morena e te Iwi :) ...wood, bone, feather, rock, ink he taaonga like you all unique wood, bone, feather, rock, ink ko koe te tino taaonga.. well been rehearsing for our Hawaii tour, looking forward to sharing with you all some new waiata. This is the chorus to Taaonga its about seeing someone and already knowing who they are by reading the story of what they wear, they neednt say a word. Simple things others may think of as nothing to me to us Maori are so sacred. Wood, bone, feather, rock and ink symbolize the elements of places/beings you hold very near and dear ...from a feather to the bird flying through the trees, pounamu to the rock in the river it laying deep beneath... ...from a heru to the wood of a tree that once stood, hear the echoes in the bones of a creature like you soul... but always remember even without whakakai (adornments) you yourself are the true treasure ...ko koe te tino taaonga...
