This is the chorus to Taaonga its about seeing someone and already knowing who they are by reading the story of what they wear, they neednt say a word. Simple things others may think of as nothing to me to us Maori are so sacred. Wood, bone, feather, rock and ink symbolize the elements of places/beings you hold very near and dear ...from a feather to the bird flying through the trees, pounamu to the rock in the river it laying deep beneath... ...from a heru to the wood of a tree that once stood, hear the echoes in the bones of a creature like you soul... but always remember even without whakakai (adornments) you yourself are the true treasure ...ko koe te tino taaonga...
