Morning Scramble The sun is not shining Today I am dragging As they sleep like angels A morning chill keeps me Rolled up Too lazy to get up and pee One glimpse at the clock I am up on my feet I must post haste as Both conscious and bladder Giving me a strong shove To the stove here I go Kids must not be late anymore Slicing and cutting We all chop-chop With a crack of the egg shells A new breaking dawn I love cooking for my clan The sizzling aroma of apple smoked bacon and american cheese Infusing the air and teasing their noses Luring them out of their sleepy poses Golden yellow cubed potatoes Fried hot in a pan Half a dozen eggs No time for nags Upon washing their faces A savory surprise Grab the day shirt Put on your shoes A warm breakfast Taco Brings about morning cuddles A frantic rush and bickering bother amongst siblings Evoking laughs in their loving Mother as She waves them good bye For a few hours...:) © 2014 Marlene Arevalo We all have those morning scrambles. Somehow I wanted to have a keepsake for the day they wont need me to awake them anymore, knowing one day I will be an empty nester but with plenty of laughter to reminisce upon.
