Morning Verse 1 Peter 2:2-3 KJV As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Mary Garrett Morning Verse: 1 Peter 4:7 KJV But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. Evening Verse Psalm 118:24 KJV This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Insight There are days when the last thing we want to do is rejoice. Our mood is down, our situation is out of hand, and our sorrow or guilt is overwhelming. We can relate to the writers of the psalms who often felt this way. But no matter how low the psalmists felt, they were always honest with God. And as they talked to God, their prayers ended in praise. Challenge When you dont feel like rejoicing, tell God how you truly feel. You will find that God will give you a reason to rejoice. God has given you this day to live and to serve him—be glad! Mary Garrett Evening Verse: Isaiah 41:4 KJV Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he. INSIGHT: God is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. This is great comfort for us. We dont have to choose another deity in the course of our lives. We dont have to worry about our Father leaving us as prey for other gods. We dont have to worry about his Word becoming obsolete or outdated. He will be with us always. PRAYER: Eternal Father, God of mercy and grace, thank you for your faithfulness. You were faithful to your promises to Israel. You were faithful in your promises to send a Messiah. You are faithful to lead and guide me by your Spirit. You will faithfully bring me into your presence at the return of the Lord Jesus. Thank you for being my stable Rock and Refuge in times that are so unstable, transient, and fickle. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
