Evening Verse Colossians 3:16 NLT Insight Thankful people can worship wholeheartedly. Gratitude opens our hearts to Gods peace and enables us to put on love. Discontented people constantly calculate whats wrong with their lot in life. Challenge To increase your thankfulness, take an inventory of all you have (including your relationships, memories, abilities, and family, as well as material possessions). Use the inventory for prayers of gratitude. On Sunday, before worship, quit rushing around; instead, take time to reflect on reasons for thanks. Declare Sunday as your “thanks, faith, and hope” day. Celebrate Gods goodness to you, and ask in prayer for all your needs for the week ahead. EVENING VERSES: Jeremiah 11:10 KJV They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers. INSIGHT: Sometimes those with the greatest opportunity for blessings spurn them and fall back into the sinful habits of their heritage and culture. The consequences of this rejection of God, and his will, are enormous. For the last ten days in our devotionals, weve looked at the glorious future that lies ahead for us in our walk with Christ. Unfortunately, there are some who never climb on board the train of grace. They dont follow God and disdain those who do. In the face of their criticism, lets make sure we are truly faithful to Gods calling, not just in word, but also in deed. PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, I look forward to being with you. Yet, dear Father, I face many challenges in commitment to be faithful. I dont want to fall into the bad and sinful habits of some who have gone before me and who rebelled against you. Please empower my faith to be like those who served you wholeheartedly. Please deliver me from any impure deed or thought. In Jesus name. Amen.
