Morning dog lovers, Ive recently had some trouble in Highams - TopicsExpress

Morning dog lovers, Ive recently had some trouble in Highams Park whilst walking my puppy. Ive been asked to share it on here so that the wider canine community is aware of the problem. I moved to London from a very doggy community in Shropshire and tried to find an equally doggy suburb of Lobdon. Ive lived here for two years now, I would say that entitles me to call myself a resident...? Anyhow, we got the puppy about five months ago and he has been a delight. There have; however, been problems with locals. Whilst walking my dog Ive been shouted at (as he poops - whilst I am poised with a decorative poop bag) children play there! Thats private property This was on a public walkway. Not private property. Ive also had a middle aged man watch me from his living room window for six weeks now. He watches me walk down the road with Bear and must see me pick up his mess. A few weeks ago this gentleman ran out of his house to shout uneducated obscenities at me in the middle of the street at midnight. He claimed that my dog was responsible for soiling the streets where his children walk and it shouldnt be allowed. He asked how long I had lived here, I told him, he told me I was not local, not a resident, an outsider. I told him he was being ridiculous and he gathered his wife to insult me even more. He accused me of letting my dog pee up his garage, utterly untrue, and he knows this because hes been watching me. Im a small 26year old woman. I walk my puppy in well lit areas for obvious reasons. Being abused in the street by a 6ft something man is fairly scary. As well as this Ive had parents tell their children my dog is vicious and shouldnt be trusted. Ive attached a picture of Bear so that you can see the beast. I want to get an article published. Parents need to know that not all dogs are vicious and that most dog owners are responsible. Im sick of being made to walk on the road because people refuse to go single file for a dog and owner! I know London is not Shropshire, but its hardly archaic, surely people understand that animals are part of a community too!
