Morning walk to the pond, i saw a mushroom exploding through the asphalt path. Yesterday i saw this eruption in the asphalt and wondered what it was. Today a mushroom was there! It must take several hundred pounds of force to push through 2-3 inches of asphalt. Wow! It is a good sign. Whereas, my neighbors, who are three cops, have been calling the city inspectors, got rid of my chickens, and two days ago called my landlord and told him that the whole place is full of garbage and is overgrown, and were bringing down the property values, and all the neighbors hate our house, and all this poison toxic and -- best of all -- untrue -- ramblings... yet they are poisoning the landlords image of us here in the co-op. Toxic people in toxic society, trying so hard to control us, and keep us from being humans who grow gardens and have a small campfire about once a month to grill food. And the car inspections... what a racket, and people who treat you like dirt. People in the system, using their tiny amounts of power to make their neighbors miserable, using the tiny laws of modernity to invoke property ownership in totally unreasonable ways to control other. And yet, this simple mushroom pushed right through inches of asphalt, in the quiet of the night. I walked through the golf course, and imagined the conversation i would have if someone told me i could not walk there. I would not go quietly. I had a water lily flower from the Pond, and wetted the stem with dew drops. Walked into the overgrown path and saw a swallowtail butterfly. These signs are why i woke up today, not to conform to the whims of the cops next door. Control freaks freak me out, those who feel so entitled to impose their aesthetics and systems of amorality on others. Push, little mushroom, push!
