Mortality Salience, the awareness of ones eventual death, has been - TopicsExpress

Mortality Salience, the awareness of ones eventual death, has been proven to affect the tolerance towards others, especially those not within ones own in-group, where stronger mortality salience leads to harsher treatment and stronger bias. The mortality salience could possibly be reduced by reducing the effects of aging but we would still die from other causes so people would still be aware of their eventual deaths. So I wonder, do you believe there would be any individual as well as common advantages from artificially inhibit mortality salience in people and would these overcome the disadvantages of the same?
