Mosman Council confirmed a contractor employed by the owner of Carla Zampatti on Military Rd had mishandled material containing asbestos, causing dust to scatter in the area on Tuesday about 4.45pm. The council said the work was carried out in contravention of handling procedures. Witnesses said people were walking through the dust, unaware of its potentially hazardous nature. “Materials were thrown onto the ground, causing great big clouds of dust. It was all over the footpath and people walked into it,” Simone Bryant said. A worker in the area who did not want to be named said she saw children inhale the dust. Posted by Lou Williams
