Most Christians are not walking in the freedom that Christ - TopicsExpress

Most Christians are not walking in the freedom that Christ purchased for them. Christ died to give us total and complete freedom from sin. He also died so that you could be completely free from any consciousness of sin. I know this sounds too good to be true if you’ve never heard this before, but it is true! That’s why Jesus said “you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free!” I believe this is one of those truths that will set you free! Under the old covenant, the conscious of a worshipper could never be cleansed. The blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin and so there was always a reminder of sins. People walked in sin consciousness being fully aware of all their sins, faults, failures and mistakes. In Hebrews chapter 9, the author makes that very point: "...According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that CANNOT perfect the conscious of the worshipper. (Hebrews 9:9 emphasis mine) He then goes on to say that if there was a sacrifice that could take away sins and make perfect those who draw near, that they would no longer even have a consciousness of sins. If there was a sacrifice that could do this, they could walk in complete freedom without even being aware of sin. "...it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshippers having once been cleansed, would NO LONGER HAVE ANY CONSCIOUSNESS OF SINS?" (Hebrews 10:1-2 emphasis mine) So, up to this point, the author has said the old covenant sacrifices could never take away sins and could never perfect the conscious of those who draw near. He then says that if there was a sacrifice that could take away all sin, for all time, then those who draw near would have no consciousness of sin! Just look what he says in verses 12 and 14: "But when Christ had offered FOR ALL TIME a SINGLE SACRIFICE for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:12 emphasis mine) “For by a SINGLE OFFERING he has perfected FOR ALL TIME those who are being sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14 emphasis mine) Christ was the one-time, single sacrifice for ALL sins. Christ was the sacrifice that the author of Hebrews was speaking of. Today, as a new covenant believer you should be walking completely free from any consciousness of sin. I know that’s a radical statement, but what Jesus did was radical. It changed the history of the world and it changed man’s relationship with God forever. If you’ve been born again, then you’ve been perfected forever. You have been cleansed from all unrighteousness and every sin has been removed from you. He’s taken away past sins, present sins and future sins. All sin is gone forever. There will never, ever be another sin in your account. Because of this, you can be free. You don’t have to focus on your faults and failures. You don’t have to constantly assess whether or not something is right or wrong. Just be led by his Spirit! Just rest in his grace and let his righteousness flow through you! Just trust that what Jesus did was enough! You can be free! You can have joy! You can have life like you’ve never had it before! This is the truth that will set you free! Receive it today and begin walking in a freedom that you’ve never known before! mm
