Most everyone knows that not only do I have furkids of my own ,but I also foster dachshunds and chihuahuas. I just love having a houseful and being able to help the little darlings is a passion of mine. A couple of days ago; my boy Cesar was playing with a couple of my fosters. They landed on Cesars back the wrong way and injured his spine. Unfortunately; dachshunds are prone to spinal injuries. And this can happen for no reason at all. Before I could get him into the vet; he was in so much pain and on top of that; couldnt feel his back legs at all. So he actually tried to chew his one back foot off. He now has 1 less nail and 2 1/2 less pads and has separated the nail beds from the pads. Its not a pretty sight and has quickly become infected. The vet was most upset as expected and he is currently in the hospital. If the pain killers and antibiotics dont work; then she will have to amputate his foot. And needs surgery on his spine to hopefully fix this. The vet is willing to work with me as much as possible as Im on a fixed income (disability) and between the surgeries, doggy wheel chair, and a couple of drag bags; Im pulling my hair out here.
