Most of my friends know my lovely wife, Dr. Debra LeBlanc, is a retired school principal here in IL. When she first became a principal, she was the second youngest in IL history. Upon her retirement, she had served as a principal in either a middle school or elementary school for approximately 24 years. She also served as a Special Ed Coordinator for her district and eight others, at various times. She is currently a Program Chair at a local university for the new Principal and Teacher Leader Programs which will evolve into a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. She is also a Special Ed Consultant for a school district and a Curriculum Mapping Consultant for another district. She works more in retirement than most do in regular life. The point of all of this is that she was the DuPage Regional Nominee for the Herman Graves Award from the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) and today there was a ceremony at the State IPA convention to honor the regional winners and to name the State Recipient. This Award is the highest honor given by the IPA for a Principal who provided outstanding service to IPA; demonstrates a positive impact on education and advocacy on children: promotes membership in IPA; and Specific Accomplishments and contributions to IPA which include mentoring many of her University candidates to become Principals in IL. I am very, very proud to write that Debbie was named the 2014 Recipient of the Herman Graves Award for the IPA. This is an exceptional accomplishment for a consummate professional. Well deserved congrats to my lovely wife!!!!
