Most of the sitars on the market nowadays are made in shops such as this, where the necks and bodies are quickly mass manufactured and assembled with zero consistency. Even many of the name brand makers obtain their sitars from these sources, and only do the final fitting, decoration, and assembly. Some ever go so far as to purchase the entire instrument, and only bother putting their badge on it after a few superficial tweaks. Weve all bought them, and weve all wound up throwing them in the garbage where they belong. If you want to truly nice sounding and long lasting instrument, buy from a luthier who is involved in every step of the process. Lutherie is not a race to make the most money. It is a slow and quiet endeavor, and the end result should always be focused on what the artist needs.
