Most of the things you see here – Im guessing its no later than 1930 – ADNM, except for the Singer Kitchens building just over the hump on Washington Avenue (at S. Clark St.), and a number of the houses in Gert Town (background). Most of you will recall the Illinois Central rail line (shown) that crossed the 17th Street Canal, though that bridge was removed in the 1990s, and the entire right-of-way sold off between here and the parish line (you can still see the scar left by the tracks path through Hollygrove). From the looks of it, much of the foreground property was dedicated to lumber yard operations. FYI, this aerial view predates the modern Blue Plate Fine Foods building (not shown) at the corner of Earhart and Jeff Davis.
