Most of us argue (in arguments) with the intention to win it or lose it - a war like strategy. Mr. Cohen explains the three types of arguments that we end up practicing and why they are mostly bad and what needs to be done. Even miniscule arguments end up becoming a war or battle for victory, where one loses and one wins. Based on this war-like perspective, no one really and truly learns anything. Yeah. Okay there might be an ego shift, but the focus on brain development should be on cognitive lessons and exercises. There needs to be a fundamental change in the way we perceive arguments. Try to be a positive arguer by showing respect to the other party - how can you achieve that? By prerending to argue with your valid points to yourself and respecting your own opinion by applauding your own performance (this is all happening subconciously btw). Re convert it into a discussion, provide relevant and direct feedback, give an equal opportunity to listen and talk, and respect the fact that something is being communicated to you. The power of the mind and tongue, simply fascinating.
