Most of us grandchildren knew him as Daddy keane. But if you knew - TopicsExpress

Most of us grandchildren knew him as Daddy keane. But if you knew Gerry Keane as a husband, father, grandad, uncle, or friend, you probably had the same level of appreciation for him that I did. My grandad was a great man. When I think about him the words that come to mind are: hard worker, caring, humorous, faithful, respectful, storyteller, and family man. These are just a few words that come to mind, but it is impossible to summarise how much of a fantastic a person he was in words. My brother and I would spend most of our early years in daddykeane and mammykeanes house during the summers. Remembering how he taught us how play cards, his silly bed time rhymes.. As we got older we saw less of him but always called down to see him and when you would he be delighted. He always had time for us and every single grandchild. We all know he had no favourite his heart was big enough to love us all equally. When I moved to Australia it broke my heart saying good bye. But daddykeane assured me id be fine more worried about me driving out the road gate. He also told me that himself and herself were only a phone call away. (And everyone who knew him, knows that phone was never out of his hand ). He gave me the strength to stay out here through the tough parts and knew he was always with me. He always wanted the best for everyone. I am going to miss Daddykeanes jokes, his wisdom and love. And even though I cant be in Ireland at home to say Goodbye properly, you will always be in my heart wherever I am. And I know one day in the future we will meet again in heaven. Until then I will pass your wisdom, and everything you taught me down to my children and future grandchildren. I want to thank you for being such as wonderful person to me, all your family and friends. We will all miss you and love you always. Xxx
