Most of us grew up always hearing about how great America is, how its the only place on the planet that has freedoms, etc, etc. But while we were not paying attention, the rest of the world was existing. There are other countries who not only enjoy freedoms, but have a better standard of living and lower levels of social problems than we do. The first step out of isolational ignorance is to just learn about other places and how they do things. I can think of a lot worse places to start than the Nordic countries.
