Most of you dont know this... but I first started going to line dancing during one of the darkest times in my life... a time that I felt alone, old, unattractive and I was, frankly, pretty depressed. I didnt like who I had become and didnt think that things would get much better.... I went, at first, to avoid my life for a little while... to go do something else with a new group of people where no one knew me... where there were no expectations and where I didnt care if anyone liked me... because I didnt like me very much back then.... fast forward a few years.... and I can now say, that the decision, that October or November evening... all those years ago, was one of the best decisions I have ever made.... because from that one decision has come some of the most precious relationships of my life. Next Thursday evening... one of the people I admire the most in the world, the instructor for our line dance group, is celebrating her birthday.... And I want to encourage you to come out and join us in honoring her (and in having an absolute blast for FREE doing something silly and quirky). Put aside your preconceived notions and come out, even for a little while and help me honor one of the most amazing humans I have the privilege to know. She helped me rescue myself.... I love you Ruth Ellen Engelberg..... Thank you for being my friend and loving me even when I had forgotten to care about myself. This is the House that Ruth Built! Bootleggers 8 am....
