Most people know that bees communicate through dance. They move in circles and figure eights, pausing to waggle as they do. But have you ever actually seen a bee dance? Untill today I hadnt either. It seems that every day I see something new for the first time. When I was researching observation hives, so I could design this one, I ran across a couple of guys who proclaimed that theyd learned more about their bees in the first year they had their observation hives, than in the tens of years of beekeeping before. Im beginning to not only believe, but understand too. So heres a video of a bee doing her waggle dance. You can see the clumps of pollen on her hind legs, so I guess (emphasize the word guess) shes telling everyone where she found it.
