Most people know the Grand Canyon primarily as a place of big vistas and wide ranging views. However, theres another side to the Grand, one that is less about spectacle and more about intimacy. Get down into the remote parts of the park, and there are miles of waterfalls, grottos, and slot canyons. Its an entirely different experience of the park than most people are familiar with. These photos were taken from an exploration of the Silver Grotto, a remote side canyon in the Marble Canyon area of Grand Canyon. Reaching this area involves miles of difficult route-finding from the rim, technical ropework to access the slot, and inflating vinyl pooltoys to float the biggest river in the West to exit. The reward is a spectacular slot canyon that few will ever see
