Most people speak from a surface personality with head-thoughts - TopicsExpress

Most people speak from a surface personality with head-thoughts guiding their mouth. I do that too. It happens. But I have come to see that level of happening as extremely superficial and untrue regardless of whether it comes from me or someone else. Sometimes I will say something and the people who live with me will say, “But yesterday (or last week, or last month, or last year) you said …” And I laugh. What else can I do? They are taking the meaningless surface as meaningful. It was a moment spoken, something that occurred, but since it had no meaning, once the moment passed it died. I don’t remember it or feel it or believe it now. People sometimes talk to me about their stories. Not often actually. I guess I have become a bit of a recluse without much involvement anymore. But it does happen. And when it does, I hear the story and then forget it. Maybe weeks or months later the person will say, “Remember when I told you …” and I think to myself, “Wow. I had totally forgotten that.” That’s because I am giving it no meaning. It was said, heard, and then forgotten. But at the same time, I know everyone and myself deeply as something very consistent, something that is always here, something that I know so well I cannot ever forget it. I can’t forget it because I don’t think about it. I just know it. It’s always here, always present, always in my awareness. So I never feel disconnected. I feel that I know everyone intimately. And I love the way Timothy Conway captures that with words in todays Awakening Together Daily Quote, … “there is the nondual intuition of profound oneness with all beings as their very Heart.” Yes. That’s it exactly.
