Most people think the Tories have settled the debt problem even though it’s risen since 2010. Most people think that immigration is peculiar to this country when, since 2000, it’s been a world wide phenomenon, with people swapping countries all over the place. Most people think that the European Human Rights Act was imposed by the European Union, when, in fact, it was written by two British Conservative MPs in the 1940s and preceded the EU by many years. Most people think that dredging rivers prevents floods. Most people think that climate scientists are somehow on the take, and that it’s much safer to trust the words of a few politicians and journalists with English degrees – funded, quite often, by oil companies. Most people read The Mail, The Express and The Sun. Most people would like the BBC shot down. Me? Lagavulin, please.
