Mountain – Temple “The Temple must be read like a book. If it had nothing to teach, it would be but a house for people instead of the house of God.” “The Temple of Man” – R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz Having begun to thread the winding path of exploration, from the roots of word temple, via Latin and Greek, we arrive to the civilization of Sumer. People of that era used the word temen which meant – collected a mound of soil – such as from the name of Neo-Babylonian buildings, ziggurat – E-Temen-An-Ki = House which is the base of the Heavens and the Earth. Since the dawn of mankind, from the first step that a human made on this planet, that is his home that has born the physical body across the wastelands of the universe, men have uncovered natural buildings that soared into the heavens unknown to them. The magnificence of that “earth gathered in one place” they have experienced in a way that was awe-inspiring; hence it awakened a desire to move up to the stars seemingly within the reach, if only they were to climb to the top of the monumental “cluster” whose roots they could not see. The mystery of the forests that cover those natural temples, later named the mountains, brings out the images and stories that will go on from generations to generations, and will embed the meaning of mountains as special places in the psyche and spirit of humans. ================================ kailashgate
