Mouthpiece of Martin Handcraft Committee Baritone from 1937? I - TopicsExpress

Mouthpiece of Martin Handcraft Committee Baritone from 1937? I was playing this instrument during the early 80s and bought it that time ago in Karlsruhe, Germany. During this time I have not been able to find further information about that sax/mouthpiece. Havent used it since around 30 years. :) Just pulled it out of my storage and it still has a great sound but definitely needs some overhaul. I can remember trying also a metal mouthpiece in the 80s which gave even more volume and fantastic sound. Not sure about the hard rubber mouthpiece pictured below. I assume it is not the original because it carries the words PGERARD, Paris and three stars in the middle plus the letter M on the side. The opening angle is fairly small/tight. The clamp (is this the right word?) says Ernest Benisch, Paris so I assume this clamp does originally not belong to the mouthpiece but maybe I am wrong here. Im also wondering if I should use this one, look for an original (if available at all) or buy a brand new one, maybe even metal? Thought it makes sense to join this group and see what other sax/mouthpiece specialists are around and whats going on. Any comments or recommendations are highly welcome.
