‘Move or Be Moved’ …Tourism Minister Warns By Ulaba Samura After a series of meetings between officials of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs with the objective of demolishing stalls and other structures at the Lumley Beach as they are an eye-sore and unattractive to tourists, the people who constructed the makeshift structures in the first place have been asked to demolish their structures. However, these occupants have so far been reluctant to leave the beach area. The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Peter Bayuku Konte has briefed the press that the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural affairs is hereby reminding all those occupants of Lumley Beach who were notified to demolish their structures on or before the 15th June , 2013 to do so in their own interest, failing which the Ministry will take the necessary steps to demolish the structures without further recourse to the occupants or owners. The minister further said that all concerned are advised to comply accordingly as the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has a comprehensive development plan for the Lumley Beach to make it look attractive before tourists start flooding the country. According to the minister, in other countries in Africa, tourist sites are well built and well taken care of. He added that most of those places look beautiful and attract tourists. He called on the people concerned to be patriotic and helpmake the Lumley Beach look beautiful for the good of Sierra Leone.
