Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) Roan Constituency chairman, Basil Mulenga says the Patriotic Front (PF) government has been given enough time to prove to Zambians that it cannot be trusted any more. In an interview with Sun FM News in Luanshya yesterday, Mr. Mulenga said when in opposition the PF promised to improve the living standards of Zambians but has proved to be failures. He said Zambians were promised a constitution, more money, more jobs and a people-driven constitution within 90 days but all these have not been delivered. Mr. Mulenga said all that the ruling party has done within three years is the opposite, saying that with the removal of subsidies on fuel and maize, prices of essential goods have continued to skyrocket beyond the reach of the many Zambians who voted for the PF in 2011. He also complained about the increase in land rates adding that the MMD meant well to empower Zambians with houses but the PF government wants to discourage citizens from owning houses by increasing the land rates. Meanwhile Mr. Mulenga has since urged the people of Roan Constituency to vote for the MMD candidate in this Tuesdays Nkulumashiba local government by- elections, Evaristo Kabange.
