Movie review: LUCY. Against my better judgment and all warnings, - TopicsExpress

Movie review: LUCY. Against my better judgment and all warnings, Dick and I went to see Lucy this afternoon. The theater was pretty full for a 2 p.m. show on a weekday, which is pretty astounding from my point of view, not so much from Dicks. You see, I gave it 2 stars, tops, and that was a stretch. Dick gave it a definite high 4+. I wasnt to the point of asking for my money back - it wasnt THAT bad. Dick said it was amazing. He loved the concept and a lot of the time travel cgi. I was a bit lost at times and could only think, Oh, the colors! at the swirling deep space scenes. Heres the thing with me. Scarlett Johansson is not my favorite actress. That means I think she sucks in most everything Ive seen her do. Her monotone voice and lack of emotion are in the style of Keanu Reeves, so enough said there. (Yes, I realize the lack of emotion was a part of the movie. Still, even that was not played well.) Im glad we saw it. Amanda My daughter has been waiting for it to come out for a looong time, and I think shell like it, despite the fact that it has a lot of shooting, gory killing, and surgical scenes. My court reporting buddies will love the approximately 15 seconds of super-speed keyboarding and momentary shot of Lucy with double hands (seen in the previews). The plot was interesting, but by no means was I sitting on the edge of my seat. In short, It didnt totally suck is the best I can do to sum up my review of Lucy.
