Moving Forward...My First Summer as a Stay at Home Mom One of the main reasons that Jacqueline and I moved to Costa Rica was so that I could quit work and we could spend more time together. The last 2 summers Jacqueline went to summer school and after school care. John took care of her prior to that, but her memories of summer were not much different than that of a normal school year. Ill admit I was nervous for this summer. Could I handle 12 hours a day of MOM MOM MOM (I timed it and the longest she went without saying MOM was 7 minutes!)? Could I handle Old Maid and Go Fishing marathons (I took mom breaks and read complex geo-political articles on news websites so my brain wouldnt float away!)? Well, we made it and it was a resounding success. We spent 3 weeks traveling through Texas, Louisiana, and Washington DC, connecting with friends and family. We also visited Six Flags over Texas, the Smithsonian, and the Kennedy Center. Plus, we had beach days, pool days, and catamaran cruises here in Costa Rica. No matter what happens in the future, the summer that Jacqueline was 5, she got to be a kid and I got to be a mom.
