Moving forward 80 years...1943:Hitler launched the last major German offensive in the east. Lacking the resources to launch on a grand scale such as in 1941 and 42, the objective was to pinch out a bulge in the German lines and straighten the front, releasing troops. But constant delays (by Hitler) led to the soviet being afforded time to prepare. The battle waged for 10 days and cost the Germans greatly. The operation was cancelled when the Allies landed in Sicily and Hitler had to send his bloodied and battle-weary troops there. There For now on the Germans would be on the defensive....until the Soviets entered Berlin.
