Moving on then.... were now going north on the 108. The 108 is the new 105 ...the surface is great and the curves are sweet and inviting. My favorite section is down in a valley floor where theres so many sweeping lefts and rights that your arms pump up from hauling the bike from peg to peg. Its a biking pleasure. Theres no real attractions on this stretch but plenty to see. When you reach khun yuam theres a cave on the right thats interesting as its full of diamond white cauliflower rock formation. Theres also snowflake like deposits also diamond white in colour. This is due to a lack of oxygen down there and its very small and down steep ladders so id advise against fat biffers and asthmatics from giving it a visit. Theres a waterfall around there too but most of the time theyre bone dry. On we go then.....or if you pop in the last shop on the left before leaving the village you can buy awesome cherry bombs @ 3 for 10 baht. Theyre bloody leathal so i got 20...... :) We skipped all the attractions leading up to mae hong son except for hanging a left before entering the city to a village called ban nam piang din. Part way down the road theres a fork. Go left for 16km and it takes you to the edge of thailand and a steel rope bridge. Cross the bridge and theres a cave at the top of a few steps with plenty of kids and a monk to assist you. Theres also a snake that lives in the roof! On the return trip if you swing a left at the fork it will take you to a karen village which is the longneck tribe. Wortha visit to see the solid bronze rings they wear. FOREIGNERS HAVE TO PAY 250 BAHT TO GO IN which goes to supporting the village people but THAI GO IN FOR FREE.... thats about racist as it gets cos the karen have no thai identity papers so why should thais support them??? Unbelieveable!
