Mozambiques state media says opposition fighters have killed four soldiers in two separate attacks, amid escalating violence in the central part of the country. The Mozambique News Agency reported on Wednesday that three soldiers died in an ambush a day earlier by attackers loyal to Renamo. The report says Renamo fighters also killed one soldier and injured three civilians, one of whom was pregnant, in a second attack on vehicles with a military escort on the countrys main north-south highway. Renamo signed a peace deal in 1992 with Mozambiques ruling party Frelimo. However, relations between the two parties have deteriorated ahead of municipal elections on the 20th of November and national elections 2014.
