Mr. Balogun Koroma and his political gimmicks. The general - TopicsExpress

Mr. Balogun Koroma and his political gimmicks. The general philophy; that we should respect our leaders is a moral obligation for us to ensure sanity in our political system. Whilst we do so, the public expect the authorities to be role models to the general public; a test that will determine which authority will serve in the best interest of his people. Once politicians fail to be role models, the public has no choice but step in to correct the absurdities that have infected the system by overzealous politicians who are found wanting. This brings me to Mr Balogun Koroma Minister of Transport and Aviation at a recent handover ceremony of a 45KV generator to the Koidu Government Hospital; the Minister’s message was laden with hatred and invectives directed at His Excellency Vice President Alhaji Sam Sumana, the chiefs and youths opposed to the Minister’s wild cat moves to take over the political leadership of Kono whether by hook or crook. A recorded video clip, a disk and a detailed copy of Mr. Koroma’s speech during the ceremony are in possession of the chiefs and elders of Kono District. In the entire District the Minister’s speech top the scale of the most talked about message with all the trappings for political destruction of the District. I also have in my possession a disk containing the full details of the Minister’s message; I found it offensive and disrespectful to our political and traditional authorities of Kono District that a Minister can make derogatory remarks in public against them. Mr Balogun Koroma also known as Logus is one of the lucky people through the good offices and the prerogative of His Excellency Dr. Earnest Koroma, appointed Logus for the second time as a full fledge cabinet Minister. His first appointment in 2007 was short lived. Following his dismissal from office he spent three years parading the streets of Freetown as an unemployed senior citizen until last year the President recall Logus to office. President Koroma expects Logus to utilise this second opportunity to the best of his ability and compensate for his poor performance whilst in office in 2007 to 2009. Undoubtedly Logus has not help matters by his abrasive actions and reckless utterances to convince President Koroma and Sierra Leoneans that he is up for the task. In fact the name Logus is tainted with polemic ideals; bringing the good name of the President’s office into disrepute. Meanwhile Logus is entangled in controversy, threat and intimidation of members of the public; this time around he chose Kono District where he is renowned for making empty promises and coerced the chiefs and the youths. At the handover ceremony he had nothing to offer to the people of Kono, instead fermenting hate among the people. He fumed with anger, his voice cracked like a thunderbolt. In the process he resorted to putrid personality attack on the VP. While speaking in mixed dialect Creole and English jumbled up tenses and grammar torpedoing his actual intention, he endorsed the law of the jungle roping in the chiefs and the youths. “Six wasted years, six years of failed political leadership and because of that we three wae sidom na ya don decides for take the political leadership of Kono.” Logus stated. He with his political shenanigans is determined to take over the political leadership of Kono at any cost. If it is not him it is no one else. It was Logus’ reckless statement that denied Ambassador John Yambasu the APC deputy Chairmanship seven years ago. He has turned his attention to the VP in deliberate attempt to destroy every opportunity of a Kono man leading the nation. What Logus and his gang of political pranksters do not understand is that the VP is their superior and a solid rock standing firm; you strike him you get hurt he strikes you, you get hurt. More importantly Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana as VP of the nation and the second highest authority in the country place him at the political helm of Kono district. His position as VP did not come about as an accident it is an entrenched clause in the nations’ Constitution. Logus should have at worse applied common sense before he made utterances that could undermine the political hegemony of the district and the country as a whole. Logus spoke extensively of six wasted years of failed political leadership referring here to the VP; a description I would say it befits Logus more than the VP. Rolling back the years Logus spent more than four decades in politics occupying top government positions in the Siaka Stevens and the Momoh era before the young and alluring VP arrive to the corridors of power. If we are calling a spade by its real name Logus is more of a failed politician than any other member of the APC party. Throughout his several years in politics he cannot point to a single development he provided for his people apart from the showmanship combined with big promises. Whilst it is legal for Logus to make fabulous and lofty promises it is unethical for him not to keep his promises. From his utterances the VP’s success is an uncomfortable site for Logus, who defines himself as the best politician, nevertheless his records say otherwise. Good politicians are defined by what they do for their people and country not what they say as politicians are known orators and Logus is no exception to this. The million dollar question for Logus is who benefits from his actions - cui bono; he or his people? Logus should eat humble pie and retire from politics honourably than make himself a political jester. Stay tuned for part 11
