Mr. D. Mann, I have not heard from you in a while. I decided - TopicsExpress

Mr. D. Mann, I have not heard from you in a while. I decided to preempt your next letter (if ever you planned on writing it) and help you understand a new concept which I recently have come to understand. The question is: Is violence good or bad? We hear so much about how violence is corrupting our culture, how it is destroying peoples moral values, and that it never solves any problems. All of these things would be very true if violence were the issue. If my bathroom were right next to my stove, one might say that my food is corrupt and inedible, that it will destroy my digestive system, and that it will only cause me more problems. My food is not the issue, though, neither is the fact that my toilet and stove reside in the same room. The problem is what comes out of me. The issue is not violence. Our hearts corrupt violence. Our hearts are unable to uphold such moral values. Our dark hearts can never solve any problems. We must not make violence the scapegoat here. If anything, in view of the fact that the heart is deceitful above all else and beyond cure, we should turn such violence we aim at others to ourselves. Before firing that pistol one must consider: am I also worthy of the pain I inflict? Am I also worthy of the death I cause? One would be surprised how many people struggle with such a deceitful heart. I am sure that if anyone recognized the how her or his heart called evil good or good evil, one might start to doubt their own judgment. Peace may come after judgment, but once anyone realizes that his or her judgment is inadequate, they have recognized the first judgment and are able to bring peace. If you are interested, ask me about the original sin, and I will tell you how this relates. I used to quote a semi-famous theologian and social philosopher when I said, Violence is so uncreative. I no longer think that violence is uncreative. It is pretty obvious that it is only me that lacks creativity, because I did not consider that I did not make up that phrase nor think about its implications until now. Uncreative, N, E. One XVI To whom it may concern: The resident of [address withheld] recently changed his address. As he was leaving my apartment complex he mentioned something along the lines of Certainly all men are liars! He then proceeded to pack his bags and left most of his possessions, including his furniture, in his home. I have yet to get in contact with him, and it seems that all of his next of kin are just as dead as he is. If you wish to claim his furniture, it is a casket, about five feet and six inches in size, and can comfortably fit one. His room is around six-to-seven feet deep and it may or may not have been damaged when he made his way out of it. You may also have as hard a time finding him as I have because he changed his name, or rather his name changed. His name was Dead Mann, and I have yet to discover the name to which it changed. His neighbors have gotten quite antsy since he left. If you would kindly bring this man back to his home, I would appreciate it. I believe he is mad. Thank You, Gluttonous Graves
