Mr. #NoDaysOff Delivers a message!! #CCEntFirm Marketing in the Music Industry... Build personas of your ideal client(s) and craft a relevant marketing plan that speaks to those personas. I have dual professions, one as an executive in the Entertainment Industry and the other as a Real Estate Investor and in both arenas, this concept of marketing directly to a crafted persona has worked every time. Finding the market that relates to your product or service is the biggest challenge and I found that its the simple things you say, show and do that get you the results. Since there are so many people out there doing the same type of marketing, its important to separate yourself from everyone else by engaging more and being simple in your approach. Honestly, keeping things simple can be difficult while marketing, especially when you want to say so much, so what can you do to properly direct your campaign? SIMPLY Ask. Ask. Ask. Ask the market what they want and focus on those that take a primary interest to what you have to offer that is relevant to their situation. The Top 3 things I learned when marketing is 1) Listen First 2) Be Clear & Concise 3) Be Memorable LISTEN FIRST: Whenever you ask a question, wait for the answer. Dont just blurt out the industry jargon that may intimidate a person or make them feel inferior or inadequate. Listen and respond only to find deeper detail as to why it is important to them. Through this practice you will be able to find common areas that a specific group of people share. Be looking to serve others more so than yourself and people will refer you to their network as well. BE CLEAR & CONCISE: Its really easy to over talk and say a whole lot of NOTHING. Have you ever sat in a class room with a monotone teacher, that spoke for the entire class period and all you heard was your name for the attendance at the beginning of class? Thats how some people feel when listening to you talk about a topic they want to understand but its too much information without a high level of interest. Keep it simple and clear to the point for what they are really looking for. People want to talk about the most important person to them... themselves. Answer according to their needs and you will begin to see the interest levels go up. BE MEMORABLE: Now, I dont mean to throw them a parade or dance on a bar top but make sure your conversation can include at least one story to support your clear & concise point. People dont always remember all the words in a conversation but people remember stories. A story can be the most remarkable part of the entire conversation and can be the most memorable as it told again and again as it relates to the other party. Now go out there and begin to ask questions and apply these three points. Remember this before you go: People always want to tell their story, they just need to know someone really wants to listen. Start with your inner circle of friends, family and associates. Dont spend much time on those that you speak to that may not be interested.
