Mr. Obama... proposed a novel deal: Simplify the corporate tax code and allow multinational corporations a one-time low tax rate to bring home billions of dollars in profits parked overseas, but use the windfall from that tax holiday for infrastructure spending. It did not happen. [It was a good, centrist, economic-growth oriented idea... unfortunately, it was Obamas, and he and the Democrats could not be permitted success. Will this dynamic change, or will the nations interest continue to be subverted by the political calculus of right wing billionaires? I would bet on continued subversion, with meaningless and counter productive measures advanced instead, as they were before. Let us hope to be surprised. ] [It was a good idea...
