Mr. Predictor Real Madrid vs Sevilla – Tuesday 12th August – UEFA Super Cup An all-Spanish Super Cup is on display here and I think a lot of people will fancy Real Madrid to win, including myself. However, I certainly don’t think Sevilla will be pushovers. Real’s side looks disjointed to me, as has been shown in their poor results in the USA on preseason. Sevilla have had a good time in the summer and are preparing nicely, despite selling Ivan Rakitic to Barcelona. Despite this, I do think Madrid’s class will shine through and they will add the Super Cup to their Champions League victory in May. Mr Predictor’s Verdict: Real Madrid 2 vs 1 Sevilla (Long List selection 1) Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich – Wednesday 13th August – German Super Cup This year’s German Super Cup is a rematch of last year’s, when Borussia beat their arch nemesis 4-2. Since then the Dortmund team has had a tough time with injuries and has seen star striker Robert Lewandowski follow in the footsteps of Mario Gotze and leave Dortmund for Munich. Bayern’s team is arguably the best in world football at the moment and these games always have goals. I’m expecting Bayern to defeat their rivals, to kick off another successful domestic campaign. Mr Predictor’s Verdict: Borussia Dortmund 1 vs 2 Bayern Munich(Long List selection 2) St. Johnstone vs Celtic – Wednesday 13th August – Scottish Premiership It’s been a rollercoaster week for Celtic. Dumped out of the Champions League empathetically, only to be reinstated because the opposition fielded an illegible player. Will they be buoyed by that, or were their poor performances over two legs something to be concerned about? Games between these two produce goals. Only one in the last five had under three goals, with the last being a 3-3 thriller. Celtic will win this and there will be goals to enjoy as well.
