Mr Prime Minister and Honorable Governmental Ministers of Singapore, I am writing this letter to you, on behalf of all Singapore who loves our land, as an appeal to your office to declare a State of Emergency as our country is facing the worst haze in the history of our country. This morning as I woke up, I can clearly see that the PSI for today is way above the 135 reported by NEA. My wife, our 5 young children and myself can clearly smell the burning embers with our naked nose. The view from my 19th floor flat also tells me that the PSI is way above that published by NEA. Indonesia, the country responsible of this haze has refused to take tangible action till today as the media reports. Also, as Dr. Vivian BalaKrisnan points out yesterday that Singapore MUST NOT be made to suffer as a result of their inabilities to tackle this issue properly and with true accountability. Singaporean across all strata is now suffering. Children whose parents are working need to brave the haze early in the morning to go child care. Some elders of our land too need to brave the haze to go to work in outdoor facilities. Business are seeing a drastic drop in revenue as commoners are being forced to stay indoor due to reduce visibility and an increase difficulty to breath. Sir, your government has been preaching that the country will put Singaporean first above all else. Allow me to appeal to you that this is one of those time that we need you and your team to fulfill the statement to the very best of your ability. Any lost of Singaporean lives due to this haze is UNWARRANTED and UNNECESSARY. Sir, Please take action before more irreversible damage is done.
