Mrs. Patricia Rose McMullen went to be with the Lord at 12:33am on Thursday, September 11, 2014. May she rest in peace. She came into my life one late March afternoon in 2011, as I was moving into my new place. She and her husband Chuck were the first ones to say hello to me and Jazzy, and many months later she would tell me that I looked like The Godfather? lol As time went by we learned our birthdays were only a day apart and that our wedding anniversaries were only a day apart! We created lots of great memories, had a lot of fun (and a lot of Moscato) and we became very good friends! Chuck had developed Alzheimers and Dementia many years prior to our meeting, and she was doing her very best to be his caregiver, and that was no easy task! It took me awhile to understand that I would have to repeat myself a lot with Chuck and it would require a lot of patience. In August 2012 Patty was diagnosed with cancer and she began a long journey of radiation and chemo treatments, and at first it looked like she had conquered it, but, cancer being the evil that it is came back for more. Then one fateful night in February 2013, Patty took a tumble and broke her ankle, and she ended up spending 3 months in residential care and therapy, which posed a serious problem as to what to do with Chuck and their dog Muffett?! I offered to take care of Muffy and Chuck entered residential care where hes been ever since, as it was decided Patty would no longer be able to care for him by herself. Not long after coming home from residential care, Patty took another tumble and this time broke her wrist. Radiation was taking its toll on her bones making them brittle. Its been a long year and a half full of doctor visits, chemo and radiation treatments, and a lot of stress. But through it all, Pattys main concern was that her dog and her husband were taken care of! I helped out as much as possible, and it was hard because I couldnt always be there due to my work schedule and other commitments, but she constantly told me how much she appreciated all I did for her, but I was only doing what I would hope someone would do for me! We had lots of time to get to know one another and I loved her patented table scapes that she would make me and her friends help her put together for almost every season and holiday of the year, especially Christmas! In August of this year, Patty began a long round of 20 radiation treatments in a row to attack the cancer that had attacked her lymph nodes. Those treatments proved to be too much for her already worn out body to handle. She entered the hospital nearly two weeks ago, where her condition deteriorated and on Tuesday of this week she was admitted into Hospice care, and very ironically she happened to be placed in the same room my wife had spent almost a month in before she passed away. Coincidence? I dont believe in it. Im gonna miss so much about you Miss Patty, but mostly Im gonna miss your company. You adopted me as the grandson you never had, and I adopted you as the grandmother I never knew. Ill take care of Muffett like you asked me to and Ill keep visiting Chuck and well always share fond memories of you. I love you very much Patty, Ill see you soon. This was one of her, and is still one of Chucks favorite songs called Gloryland. Ive got a home in glory land that out-shines the sun. Ive got a home in glory land that out-shines the sun. Ive got a home in glory land that out-shines the sun. Way beyond the blue. Chorus: Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Way beyond the blue. I took Jesus as my Saviour, You take Him too. I took Jesus as my Saviour, You take Him too. I took Jesus as my Saviour, You take Him too. Way beyond the blue. Chorus: Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Do Lord, O, Do Lord, O do remember me, Way beyond the blue.
