Ms. Sabiana Anandaraj, Head- Corporate Communications at Aircel interacts with the students of FMS… Students of Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) at MRIU had an opportunity to interact with Ms. Sabiana Anandaraj- Head, Corporate Communications at Aircel. With over 28 years of experience, Ms. Anandaraj has been associated with organizations like IHCL, CII, Titan Industries, Reliance Industries, JK Group of Companies, Ebay, Tata Communications, TTSL, J K Group, etc. The interaction started with thoughts from the students on their ideas about the concept of communication. She then mentioned how and why communication is important in all spheres of life; whether it is a personal relationship, a subordinate- superior relationship, advertising or the tie between voters and political parties! Communication reigns supreme if we wish to break the ice between various entities and move further towards success. Ms. Anandaraj explained with examples how companies are in a tussle over getting a share of the customers’ mind. In their pursuit of good business, companies need to enhance good will and implement good governance. However, good communication is an essential which envelopes all functions. In many cases, communication is a tactic. Ms. Sabiana gave examples to substantiate how some businesses use competitor- information to intensify their position in the market. She said developing positive public relations is a tough job in a heterogeneous market such as India. It takes a combination of communication messages and media to strike the people here. And, here is where a brand ambassador comes into picture. She explained why Aircel made the choice for cricketer M S Dhoni to spearhead their campaign. By the end of the session, Ms. Sabiana Anandaraj was into an open and frank discussion with the budding managers, many of whom decided to join in media as a profession!
